What insurance do you take?

We accept most insurance.  Ask when making your appointment if we accept yours.

Yes, if you are over 18 years old every five years.  If you are over 40, every other year.  If you are over 50, every year.

My father had cataracts, will I have them too?

Everybody is at risk for cataracts after a certain age.  That is why it is so important to see your eye care professional yearly.

Does pregnancy affect my vision?

Yes it does. Hormones from pregnancy, menopause, or other changes will affect your vision.

Why do I need an exam every year?

Prescriptions expire after 1 year and your eyes could change each year.

What age should I start bringing my child in for an exam?

For a comprehensive exam we recommend your child be at least school age.  If you have concerns prior to that we can check the health of your child’s eyes at any age.

What is the difference between your office and one of those chain stores that offer glasses in an hour?

Patient care is more one on one in our office and we feel we do a more thorough exam.  The chain stores offer gimmicks to get you in the door and their glasses specials are limited quantities as well as less quality.  The specials that they run only cover single vision lenses and do not include any coatings or warranties.

How long does and exam take?

A comprehensive exam usually takes around one hour.

 How much is an exam?

A comprehensive eye exam is $102.00.  If you are getting contacts there is a fitting fee of $49-$88 depending on what type of contacts your eyes require.

Why am I being charged a fitting fee for my contacts?

Fitting contacts requires a more comprehensive exam.

 What is astigmatism?

Astigmatism means your eye is not shaped like a perfect half sphere.

What does it mean if I have a toric lens?

A toric lens is a type of lens that is fitted for your astigmatism.

Why do you need my health insurance card?

We need your health insurance card so we have correct information for billing your exam.  If your exam is for something other than a routine vision exam, we can submit the bill to your health insurance.

Why do you need my email address?

We are trying to save time and paper by emailing appointment reminders, statements, and recall notices.  We will never sell or share your email address.   We will send updates on sales, trunk shows, and the doctor’s blog, but we will not overwhelm your inbox.
